Back the countryside
TOMORROW at the Devon County Show, the CLA will launch its campaign to push for continued public funding for the countryside postbrexit. ‘The British countryside provides us with a large proportion of the food we eat and the water we drink; it cleans the air we breathe and sustains a rich diversity of wildlife—features that bring benefits to everyone who lives in, works in or visits the countryside,’ points out CLA President Ross Murray [Opinion, page 56].
‘But there is a risk once the UK leaves the EU. It’s vital for Government to treat farming, the rural economy and our landscapes as a public investment priority.’ The CLA will be taking its ‘The Countryside Matters’ campaign around agricultural shows this summer.
