Wake up and smell the bluebells
WITH farmers facing uncertain times ahead—interest rates, wheat prices, plus the unmentionable ‘B’ word—they have every reason to feel worried about the future. As a farmer’s wife of 40 years, I have seen the good times and the bad. Today, however, was a glorious day: the sun shone and I took my husband to our eight-acre wood to see the bluebells (right), which are truly a sight to lift the heart. The scent in the 5pm sun was overwhelming, making the grumpiest farmer and his wife very glad to be living in this wonderful country of ours, regardless of the bad times. Sue Morris, Gloucestershire
