IA sunflower village
T was a happy inspiration that led Mr Faure of the Manor House, Claygate to offer prizes for the bestgrown sunflowers to the residents of this Surrey village. The competition was made known last March, and was at once taken up with enthusiasm. Amateur competitors looked askance on their puny plants while the giants of the professionals grew at amazing pace. Large golden heads came peeping over the tops of many a garden wall and lent an additional charm to the village.
