Kim Warburton has transformed the bathroom of a period house with a striking and luxurious marble

-

Kim Warburton is a relative newcomer to interior designers. after graduating from KLC interior Design School, she established her own practice in 2013 and has since combined her experience in fashion with her love of timeless, classic style to transform period interiors.

the designer’s vision for this project was a feminine en-suite bathroom and dressing room for the master bedroom. adopting a theme of Hollywood-style glamour as a guide, Kim set about creating a luxurious space that remained sympathetic to the period of the building. Working alongside mason Gillibrand architects, she adhered to the requirement that the scheme should be totally reversible with minimal impact on the existing fabric of the building.

in the bathroom, book-matched arabescato Corchia marble was chosen for the vast shower enclosure due to its natural beauty, as well as the fact that it comes in large format panels that helped with the number of fixings to the walls. the level of the shower was raised to conceal a supporting steel beam required to protect the delicate plaster ceiling below. both the surfacemounted shower and towel rail are by Drummonds (020–7376 4499; www. drummonds-uk.com)

a stone-composite stool from balineum (www.balineum.co.uk; 020–7431 9364) provides a useful space to house soaps and shampoos: ‘i didn’t want to upset the marble by carving out a shelf,’ explains Kim. a set of four prints of succulent plants, which picks up on the green veins in the marble, were sourced from the trowbridge Gallery (www.trowbridgegallery.com; 020– 7371 8733). the result is a brilliant fusion of sleek good looks and luxury.
