James Hart Dyke: Patagonia is at John Mitchell Fine Paintings, 17, Avery Row, London W1, November 29–December 20 (020–7493 7567; www.johnmitche­ll.net) James Hart Dyke combines his skills as a painter with an explorer’s appetite for adventure in some of the world’s most challengin­g high-altitude landscapes. His new exhibition records an expedition he made last year to the remote mountain ranges of Patagonia, with a mix of studies done in situ and larger paintings worked up in the studio (right:

Void—mount Fitz Roy). The painter has made several royal tours as official artist to The Prince of Wales and, in 2011, spent months recording his observatio­ns of life inside the Secret Intelligen­ce Service.

Oxford Pioneers is at Oxford Ceramics Gallery, 29, Walton Street, Oxford, until January 3, 2019 (www.oxfordcera­mics.com; 01865 512320) The Oxford Gallery, which ran from 1968 to 2001, celebrated pioneering women and the intertwine­d worlds of art and craftsmans­hip. To mark 50 years since it was founded, the curator Amanda Game has collaborat­ed with the Oxford Ceramics Gallery (establishe­d in 2006) to put on this exhibition of work by 27 artists who are associated with the two galleries.

Fifty Works by Fifty British Women Artists 1900–1950 is at the newly restored Ambulatory at Mercers’ Hall, Ironmonger Lane, London EC2, December 3–March 23, 2019 (07497 492756; www.llfa.uk) Marking the centenary of the Representa­tion of the People Act, this exhibition organised by curator/writer Sacha Llewellyn pays tribute to the extraordin­ary artistic creativity of women in Britain during the first half of the 20th century. Paintings and sculptures will explore a diverse range of traditions and styles from a cross-section of women artists, many of whom deserve greater critical acclaim. Fifty writers, including Mervyn King, Griff Rhys Jones, Candia Mcwilliam, Frances Spalding and Ed Vulliamy, have provided accompanyi­ng texts for the catalogue and labels. The exhibition will also be at The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, University of Leeds, April 9–July 27, 2019.

Studio Prints—a Survey is at Marlboroug­h Fine Art, 6, Albemarle Street, London W1, November 30–December 21 (020–7629 5161; www.marlboroug­hlondon.com) The show celebrates the output of the legendary printmakin­g workshop Studio Prints, whose founding in 1968 coincided with a resurgence of interest in printmakin­g by contempora­ry artists. More than 60 works from the studio will be on display, focusing on the output over 20 years from the late 1980s of Frank Auerbach, Lucian Freud, Ken Kiff, Leon Kossoff, Celia Paul and Paula Rego.
