Three luxury lodges have just opened in the small himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. The lodges in Thimpu—the capital—punakha (above) and Paro are the first of five planned by Six Senses Bhutan. They offer visitors the opportunit­y to explore the principal valleys of this remarkable and little-visited country.

The lodges enjoy very different settings and have been designed to reflect local architectu­re. Accommodat­ion within them includes one-bedroom suites as well as villas with one to three bedrooms. each lodge has its own spa and wellness centre. Suites start from $1,010 (about £765) based on double occupancy. Stays during the opening period will be inclusive of full board until February 28, 2019, with a car, driver and guide included for stays longer than five consecutiv­e nights.

ALready well establishe­d in Asia and the Far east, the Chedi group recently opened its second european hotel. Located in increasing­ly popular Montenegro, the five-star Chedi Lustica Bay hotel occupies a waterfront spot in the newly developed marina (00 38 2 77 200 100; www.lusticabay.com/the-chedi).

The 111 rooms—60 of which are offered as hotel condominiu­ms—have been designed with the modern traveller in mind and are Minimalist in style. There are two restaurant­s, an outdoor pool, a spa, a conference room and a business centre. The hotel is part of a monumental redevelopm­ent on the site of a former naval base, with plans for an 18-hole golf course, designed by Gary Player, another marina and six further luxury hotels.

SMALL Luxury hotels of the World— a carefully curated selection of cuttingedg­e-design hotels—has just introduced five new properties, including three that are newly opened.

At the country-style retreat The dudley Boutique hotel, in daylesford, Australia, peckish guests can sneak into The Library at any time of day or night for a compliment­ary array of snacks. Cocktails at the Bank hotel, Stockholm, Sweden, celebrate the building’s heritage and are money-themed —order a red Vault, made from hernö Old Tom gin, Cointreau, blood orange, lingonberr­y and yuzu. The other additions include enso Ango Fuya II in Kyoto, Japan.
