Wild at heart
THE Countryside Alliance (CA) is usually on the side of Agromenes, but the article of November 13 is a complete misrepresentation of its position. What I said is that we all want positive outcomes for biodiversity and the environment, but that the rewilding brand and its language is toxic in traditional farming communities. It’s seen as a threat to their existence and has become a barrier to delivering the improvements we all want. I advocate calling it something with farming in the title—extensive farming, nature-friendly farming or conservation farming—which presents farming communities with a future, rather than a threat. The CA wants these projects to succeed. Tim Bonner, chief executive, Countryside Alliance
