Home sweet home
IENJOYED the article on Land Rovers (Britain’s greatest masterpieces, October 20) and found it fascinating to discover how the inspiration for the vehicle came about. As Maurice Wilks drew a sketch on a beach on Anglesey, I wondered whether he had further links with the island—and, so it turns out, he did. His family owned two farms on the island, which is why he wanted a vehicle specifically for farm purposes. Wilks also tested the Land Rover out on the island, with his older brother, Spencer, and is buried here on Anglesey near his home. Kinda Jane Evans, Anglesey
