Grab the beetle by the horns

-

ICOULD not help but notice the insect on the cover of your special GENTLEMAN’S LIFE issue. At first, I tried to brush it away, thinking it was a flea from our dog, but it didn’t move. Upon closer inspection, it appears to be a horned beetle of some sort. For the life of me, I cannot imagine the significance of it. Would you kindly enlighten me? It’s really bugging me. Peter B. Martin, Belveze, France The Editor responds: As many readers will know, we hide a ladybird on the cover of COUNTRY LIFE each week. We therefore thought it would be jolly to adorn GENTLEMAN’S LIFE with a rhinoceros beetle—for surely there is no more rugged inhabitant of the insect world?
