HAVE you noticed that the ‘mind the gap’ announcements at Embankment station sound different to every other London Underground station? In 2012, the words were digitised across the network, much to the distress of Margaret Mccollum. She visited the station every day to hear the voice of her late husband, Oswald, who, in the 1970s, had made the original announcements. The staff were so moved that they found his recordings, digitised them and had his voice reinstated.
