The city that got the cream
YOUR feature on telephone kiosks
(Britain’s greatest masterpieces, January 19) leads me to highlight my home city of Kingston upon Hull’s creamcoloured examples. This one is on Hedon Road in east Hull. Apparently, in 1904, the council set up its own independent telephone company, painting the kiosks cream. A snippet about a city that is much maligned by some, but which I am proud to call home.
