Shop in the British aisles
LAST year, I arrived home with a bag of supermarket apples, only for my father, a British farmer, to point out that they had been flown in from China, travelling roughly 1,000 miles. At this time, there were still apples in our garden. People don’t always have time to check labels, so why not put all UK produce in the same area? That way, people could clearly see what we are capable of growing—and when. I’m not suggesting shops omit avocados or ban blueberries, but that they should put British produce to the forefront.
