What’s not to like?
IAM fortunate to count myself as one of the lucky few in Britain to own a standard poodle (‘Fancy is as fancy does’, February 2) and am always astonished that more people don’t have them. Max is intelligent, obedient, eager to please and has an alarmingly good grasp of the English language, all of which made him a doddle to train. Poodles are also so adaptable: Max’s father is an agility champion and his mother would let her diabetic owner know when it was time to take her injections. Beyond that, Max is a brilliant companion I couldn’t be without. Here we are winning ‘dog that looks most like owner’ at our local dog show—and not a pom pom in sight!
