Count your blessings
FURTHER to the fogbow (Letters, March 30), here is an icebow, photographed from the path below Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island. The sun was arcing down over the snow-blanketed Cheviots, glimpsed before the cloud drifted eastwards. Ice crystals refracted the low-angled sunlight to create a halo over Holy Island harbour, priory, church and village. I wondered how the monks and saints of earlier centuries would have interpreted it—perhaps as a sign of blessing?
