Up in arms

-

Now is an excellent time to visit Cambridge, with the start of its annual festival, a Hockney show at The Fitzwilliam Museum and ‘The Liberty Of Doubt’, an exhibition of works by Ai Weiwei at Kettle’s Yard, until June 19, that explores themes from truth and authenticity to the current geopolitical crises. The display includes 13 of the artist’s own works, alongside 14 antiquities that he bought at auction in the city. When you’re there, take in the temple of carefully curated domesticity that is Kettle’s Yard. Getting to know this most beguiling of cities is made even more pleasurable thanks to the University Arms hotel, which will not only organise all the logistics, including complimentary walking tours, but also revive tired limbs inside one of its new treatment rooms, created in partnership with Aromatherapy Associates, before supper prepared by Tristan Welch, head chef at the hotel’s Parker’s Tavern. GK Rooms at University Arms from £209 per night on a B&B basis (01223 606066 www.universityarms.com)
