It’s a piece of cake

THE advice on dividing a piece of cake (Town Mouse, April 13) reminded me of how my mother solved the problem, yet also displayed strict neutrality to her two children. She handed the knife to one and said: ‘You make the cut.’ To the other child, she said: ‘And you choose the slice.’
