This is war

AGROMENES writes that ‘ever since the fall of the Berlin Wall… the possibility of a European war had been relegated to history’ (April 13). Might I remind him of the Yugoslav Wars between 1991 and 2001, specifically the Bosnian War (1992–95) and the Kosovo War (1998–99)? The Balkans are most certainly within Europe and these wars did take place. I should know, because I was deployed to both—and used to receive copies of COUNTRY LIFE when I was in both theatres.
