The Defender goes green

-

The original Defender may have been cast aside by Land Rover, but it has found a loving home at Thirsk-based Twisted Automotive, which has announced three new modified models of the British icon. First up is the Twisted EV, a fully electric

Defender 90 build, which boasts a 140-mile range on a full charge (three hours), 286 horsepower and 380nm of torque.

‘There is something extremely special about the Twisted EV. It has incredible power, yet still has the charm of the classic Defender,’ says Twisted CEO Charlie Fawcett. ‘With an estimated 70% of all Defender and Series Land Rovers ever made still being on the road, it is one of the most recyclable vehicles on the market, and Twisted has now future-proofed this British icon even further.’ As well as the EV, petrol purists can take comfort in the new V8 edition (450hp+) and a twin-spool turbo four-cylinder petrol offering, which delivers 308hp and is ULEZ compliant. Twisted EV from £225,000 + VAT; V8 conversion from £75,000 + VAT (01845 574990; www.twistedautomotive.com). JF
