A family tradition
THIS year, 12 women are following in their ancestors’ footsteps by appearing on COUNTRY LIFE’S Frontispiece as part of the magazine’s 125thanniversary celebrations. This week’s Zenouska Mowatt is unusual in that not only her grandmother, Princess Alexandra, the Hon Lady Ogilvy, but also her great uncle, the Duke of Kent, have graced the page. ‘I think Granny was featured 12 times,’ she says. ‘I hadn’t seen half of them, but it was very special in that we share that now. I think she’ll love it. To be asked to sit for the Frontispiece was really an honour, because there’s so much history behind [it]. When the shoot happened, it was a real joy.’
All 12 portraits are being taken by royal photographer Millie Pilkington: ‘She was fantastic. The direction she gave was marvellous—she made everything very easy,’ says Miss Mowatt. ‘I don’t think I’ll ever have a photo of myself like that again.’
When not working as head of marketing at Royal Warrantholding luxury-goods company Halcyon Days, helping ‘promote crafts that require cherishing and nurturing’, Miss Mowatt is busy spending more time with friends and family to make up for the Covid years. ‘Reconnecting with loved ones and having good times is at the forefront of everyone’s minds. We now need to say yes more often and go on more adventures. I think that will be my plan.’
