Country Life

Invention, speed, the ability to connect quickly with the subject and, sometimes, sheer nerve are prime requisites for photographers of the COUNTRY LIFE interview, for which subjects have ranged from Sir David Attenborough to musicians, politicians, cricketers and the head of the Bank of England. John Miller stood his ground when photographing farmer and presenter Adam Henson being pushed around by his restive White Park bull, Idris, and worked at top speed to capture Sir David at Kew Gardens. Millie Pilkington seems to have found a rapport with Dame Judi Dench—one of the friendliest celebrities we’ve interviewed—and Clara Molden took this affectionate portrait of the late, great Barry Cryer on a blistering July day in 2019
