Pick of the week

Anyone in search of contemporary sculpture and traditionalist painting should extend their trip to the Petworth Park Fair with a visit to the Moncrieff-bray Gallery at nearby Woodruffs Farm, Egdean, West Sussex, where the summer show is open (until June 25). The gallery is particularly proud of the spread of artists—‘from Land’s End to Ullapool’— and of new work by a number of leading British stone carvers, including Jonathan Loxley, Paul Vanstone (right), Dominic Welch, Guy Stevens,

Aly Brown and Tim Pomeroy.

Water everywhere, and sometimes fog, but no gondolas and few, if any, people—that is Celia Montague’s Venice, as presented in her show at Cricket Fine Art, 2 Park Walk, London SW10 (until May 27). There is, however, the beetling bulk of a cruise ship, entitled No Grandi Navi a Venezia!.

Her painterly skills are equally well demonstrated in the Oxford University Parks and north Oxfordshire.
