THE IDEAL BED IS ONE THAT COMBINES all the benefits of a comfortable, supportive mattress with the style and elegant proportions of a well-designed headboard. With that in mind, we have created the Country Living bed collection exclusively with DFS – four beautifully upholstered headboards that can be teamed with one of three luxurious pocket-sprung mattresses.

The range includes the Darwen headboard, named after the Lancashire weaving town and combining a distinctive woven check with tie-back detail (seen top centre); the Corris, a wool blend reflecting the smooth grey slate traditionally quarried in the Welsh hill village of the same name (above left and top left); the Holkham, handmade from a natural linen mix with scalloped edges, inspired by the golden curves of Norfolk’s famous beach (above right and top right); and the Fotherby, a cotton/linen mix of textured stripes emulating the wheat fields of the Lincolnshire Wolds near the eponymous village (above centre).

The mattresses come in a choice of options with 2,700 springs (Haxby), 3,700 (Malton) or 5,700 (Ingleton), all with natural wool filling (the Malton has an additional layer of cool cotton and the Ingleton is topped with super-soft mohair for pure luxury). The Abingdon divan base – pocket-sprung, with an Fsc-accredited timber frame – provides extra support and is available with built-in deep drawers – either full-size or continental-style ‘half ’ designs that will open easily even if you have bedside tables.
