LITTLE FOREST ADVENT CANDLE TIN

This alternative table centrepiece re-uses old baking tins, offcuts of fabric, and cones and moss found on a woodland walk.

-

You will need 4 tealight holders* Long shallow tin or three smaller baking tins Craft knife Oasis block Moss Pine cones Scissors Scraps of fabric Needle and sewing thread Whole cloves Matchsticks Tealights Glitter or fake snow

1 Space the tealight holders out evenly in the tin and use a craft knife to cut three pieces from the oasis block to fit snugly in between each one.

2 Start adding moss to the tin, arranging it around the tealight holders so it covers the oasis.

3 Add several pine cones of different sizes, pushing them into the oasis to hold in place.

4 Make small trees by cutting two small triangles from the fabric offcuts. Place wrong sides together and blanket stitch down the two long sides. Insert a few cloves inside and then a matchstick to create a trunk. Stitch to close (still with part of the matchstick exposed). Repeat to make as many trees as you wish.

5 Dot the trees throughout, pressing the matchsticks down into the oasis to secure them. Place the tealights in the holders, cover the remaining oasis with moss and finish with glitter or fake snow to create the winter forest.
