NATURE’S MEDICINE CABINET
Pomegranate Before it was available in supermarkets, this fruit was traditionally a sight in Christmas markets. Revered in Ayurvedic medicine, where all parts – rind, arils (the juicy bits) and the soft spongy membrane – are used, pomegranates are rich in antioxidants. There’s evidence to show that regularly eating them or drinking the juice may help to reduce cholesterol build-up in the arteries and improve blood flow. The juice has antiviral and antibacterial qualities, too. Sprinkle the little jewel-like arils over salads, muesli and Middle Eastern dishes.**
