PLACES TO STAY
Stocks Hotel The oldest hotel on Sark, this was originally a 16th-century farmhouse, which has been beautifully maintained and adapted to offer comfortable and characterful rooms. For the past 20 years, it has been owned and run by general manager Paul Armorgie, whose parents took it over in the 1960s when running water and 24-hour electricity weren’t extensively available on the island (stockshotel.com). The White House Hotel, Herm This whitewashed hotel, with gardens stretching down to the beach, has lovely views over the English Channel. Right by the dock where the ferry arrives, there’s something charmingly nostalgic about its cosy bedrooms, winding corridors and multiple lounges with fireplaces. Indeed, many families have been returning here to holiday for generations (herm.com/where-to-stay/ white-house-hotel).
