While most other crops are brought in by farm­ers dur­ing Au­gust and/or Septem­ber, corn on the cob is one of the last to be har­vested. Hav­ing grown ‘thigh high by the first of July’, as the old adage says, the plants will be at least six feet tall by the time they are gath­ered in Oc­to­ber.
