Freshly cut into short lengths, a good stock of firewood is a reassuring sight and an attractive feature in your garden. Obviously, it needs to be left outside to season properly, so raising it off the ground in a rack or store with a sloping roof will help shield it from the elements. Open sides allow air to circulate well and a relatively sheltered position is best, where there can be some protection from slanting rain. Dividing your store into sections, as in this custommade rack, makes the wood both easier to stack and to access.
