GROW SPUDS IN THE BIN
ENSURE there are big drainage holes in the bottom of the bin – if there aren’t any, these can be made with a large drill bit.
POSITION the bin in a spot that gets some sunshine and fill up to 10cm with soil or compost.
SPACE out your chitted/sprouting spuds and cover with 5cm of soil. Water regularly to keep the compost moist.
ADD more compost as the potato plants grow up through the soil searching for the sun. Continue to add compost over the coming weeks – this gives the crop lots of depth to grow new potatoes.
TIP the contents out onto an old sheet and pick out your spuds when the dustbin is full and the plants start to die down.
