GROW SPUDS IN THE BIN

-

1 ENSURE there are big drainage holes in the bottom of the bin – if there aren’t any, these can be made with a large drill bit.

2 POSITION the bin in a spot that gets some sunshine and fill up to 10cm with soil or compost.

3 SPACE out your chitted/sprouting spuds and cover with 5cm of soil. Water regularly to keep the compost moist.

4 ADD more compost as the potato plants grow up through the soil searching for the sun. Continue to add compost over the coming weeks – this gives the crop lots of depth to grow new potatoes.

5 TIP the contents out onto an old sheet and pick out your spuds when the dustbin is full and the plants start to die down.
