QUEEN EXCLUDER This board, with a small hole in it, allows worker bees access to the honey super above – but stops the larger queen moving in and laying her eggs

The ‘living quarters’ for the bees. It holds the frames where the queen will lay her eggs and the workers will store pollen and honey to feed their young

This ‘floor’ layer protects the colony from damp ground, and includes the entrance where the bees fly in and out
