ONCE MORE UNTO THE BEACH

From sweeping sand dunes to smugglers’ coves… ten of our favourite places to be beside the seaside

-

Holkham & Wells NORFOLK

Holkham beach is my go-to place whenever I feel the need to get away from it all. With its magical backdrop of pinewoods and dunes, the expanse of beach at low tide feels endless and it’s possible to romp for miles across the smooth sands. You can walk in any direction from Holkham, but often I head right, towards the beach at Wells-next-the-sea, passing the brightly painted wooden huts, and only turning round when I reach the lifeboat station at the end. By the time I head back on the coastal path, my mind is free of clutter and I feel at one with the world again. Louise Pearce, editor-in-chief
