COUNTRY LIVING HOLIDAYS

Exclusive trips

-

With their extraordinary landscapes, vast canyons, natural archways and the mighty Colorado River, the Rocky Mountains boast some of the world’s most incredible scenery. Stretching from Western Canada to New Mexico, the Rockies formed a natural barrier to European settlers making their journey from east to west. It wasn’t until the mid-1800s that thousands braved the perilous crossing to reach Utah, Nevada and the riches of California.

Your journey will be somewhat more luxurious as you take one of the world’s most iconic trains across the 3,000-milelong mountain range. Departing from Denver, on a brand-new route, you will travel in style on the world-famous Rocky Mountaineer bound for Utah. Enjoy panoramic views of the Rockies onboard the train’s Silverleaf Service as you take in Ruby Canyon, Mount Logan and cross the Continental Divide.

Next, you will enjoy a tour of the highlights of the American Southwest best seen by train, including the Grand Canyon, before reaching your final destination, the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas.

During the tour, you’ll visit some of America’s incredible national parks – four of Utah’s ‘Mighty Five’ national parks: Canyonlands; Bryce Canyon; Zion; and Arches, not to mention the spectacular Grand Canyon in the state of Arizona.

REASONS TO BOOK

AMAZING NATIONAL PARKS

In Bryce Canyon, you’ll discover the largest collection of hoodoos (tall, thin spires of rock) in the world during a guided tour. Zion National Park in south-western Utah is home to towering mountains and red canyons, easily reachable on hikes. In Canyonlands, you’ll explore the red sandstone landscapes, plus tick off a bucketlist item as you see one of the world’s natural wonders, the Grand Canyon.

ROCKY MOUNTAINEER

The famous Rocky Mountaineer train offers unrivalled luxury railway journeys

through Western Canada and the American Southwest, and has won the ‘World’s Leading Travel Experience by Train’ eight times at the World Travel Awards. During your two-day journey between Colorado and Utah, you’ll enjoy supreme comfort, while the spacious single-level coaches and oversized windows of the train’s Silverleaf Service ensure you’ll get the chance to experience wonderful views of North America’s most spectacular scenery.

EXPERIENCE NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE

Monument Valley is in the heart of the Navajo Nation reservation and you’ll take a tour that incorporates John Ford Point (named after the film director who shot many of his famous westerns there), Artist Point and the Totem Pole. You’ll also discover more about Navajo culture and their traditions.
