A sight to savour… SEA THRIFT
Thrift bursts into bloom this month, its pretty pink flowers swaying on the sea breeze. Also known as ‘cliff clover’ and ‘sea-pink’, this hardy perennial grows in cushion-like clusters on clifftops, shingle beaches, sand dunes and saltmarshes. While you can spot it across Britain, head to the South West Coast Path in Cornwall to see it in swathes. The wild flower is particularly abundant around Trevose Head Lighthouse and on the high slate cliffs of Hole Beach near Tintagel. For thriftrich routes, visit iwalkcornwall.co.uk/walks/flora/thrift.
