sweet chestnuts SAVE OUR
Sweet chestnut trees are under attack from an invasive pest, but you could help save them. The Royal Horticultural Society and Coventry University are asking volunteers to record the health of their local trees, gathering data that will be used to stop the blight spreading. These particular trees are at risk from the oriental chestnut gall wasp whose larvae cause galls (or growths) on their buds and leaves, making them vulnerable to disease. Look out for discoloured bark, canopy dieback and galls. Take part at rhs.org.uk.
