HELP RESCUE OUR RIVERS

-

Here are some ways you can support the campaign for our waterways

USE WATER WISELY In the UK, we use on average 150 litres of water per head daily. Make a difference by taking shorter showers, turning the tap off when brushing your teeth and ensuring washing machines and dishwashers are full before you use them.

WATCH WHAT YOU FLUSH The Rivers Trust wants us to #Stopflushingwipes as they cause around 93 per cent of sewer blockages (theriverstrust.org/stop-flushing-wipes).

PUT YOUR FOOT DOWN ON POLLUTION Support the Surfers Against Sewage #Endsewagepollution campaign by writing to your MP at sas.org.uk.

LOG YOUR LITTER PICKS Download the Planet Patrol app (planetpatrol.co) to record what litter you find and where, to put pressure on companies to clean up their act – and our waterways.

ADOPT A BEAVER or find other ways to support them at devonwildlifetrust.org.

LAUNCH A LOCAL CAMPAIGN Look up the @Ilkleycleanriver group (facebook. com/ilkleycleanriver/) to find out how to campaign for a bathing site.

SHARE AND SHOCK Check out The Rivers Trust’s Sewage Map (theriverstrust.org), which shows where and when raw sewage has been discharged across the UK. Share it to prompt others into taking action, too.
