KAREN ROSS “I PEDALLED DOWN MY DIABETES”

-

I was shocked to be diagnosed with type II diabetes six years ago. Although I changed my diet, my blood sugar remained more or less the same – and I slowly realised I wasn’t exercising enough. So when the cycling charity Sustrans asked me if I‘d like to take part in an e-bike trial, I gave it a go. I didn’t even know what an e-bike was, but I was determined to get my health back on track.

I haven’t looked back. Once I started incorporating cycling into my daily routine, my blood sugar levels rapidly decreased. Now, my diabetes is practically non-existent, my blood sugar is completely under control without the need for medication and I’ve lost four-and-a-half stone. The doctors are really impressed with my progress. Cycling has changed my life, made me more confident and I genuinely enjoy it!
