I love a nursery that grows its own plants, especially one where the owners are as knowledgeable as Abi and Tom Attwood of Halecat Nursery near Grange-over-sands in Cumbria. Winters can be wet and windy here, so their plants are tailored to local conditions and Tom regularly recommends his favourite good-doers on Instagram @abiandtomsgardenplants. Inspiring display borders are packed with herbaceous perennials at their two-acre Halecat nursery site and they also own Grange Plant Centre nearby.
