GREAT DANE

It’s thought that the first Dalmatians were the result of crossbreeding between pointers and spotted great Danes, which would explain the latter’s familiar markings.

ENGLISH SPRINGER SPANIEL

Although commonly white with large brown, or ‘liver’, patches, some springers are born with a smattering of small spots, which gives them an adorably freckle-faced appearance.

DACHSHUND

Known as ‘Dapple’ dachshunds, the spotty variety of this breed is specifically bred for its markings. Coat colours range from red and cream to black, chocolate and tan. The density of dots varies, with some dogs having only faint spots, while others look as if they’ve been splattered with paint.
