Shropshire sheep - young stars
Shropshire Sheep Breeding Society
Recently the Shropshire Sheep Breeding Society has seen a rise in the number of youngsters interested in exhibiting sheep. With exceptional animals, the younger members of the society have mixed their confidence, ability and talent to outshine the competition in the ring, going on to achieve breed champions at a number of shows across the country.
2017 was the first time that the Society entered a team into the National Young Star Competition comprising of George Clay, Ellie Russell and Owen Powell. The event is a fantastic opportunity for likeminded youngsters from across the whole of the farming livestock industry to come together. The team not only demonstrated amazing control, skills of show preparation, animal knowledge and stockmanship but also a passion for their animals and the future of farming.
It’s wonderful to observe such good strong Shropshire classes in the show ring, providing a fabulous representation of the breed whether novice or veteran, giving everyone has the opportunity to shine. MORE: www.shropshire-sheep.co.uk
