Who doesn’t like an ice cream on a hot summer’s day? Here in the UK we have some 1,904 million dairy cows (latest Defra figures), so why are we the second largest ice cream importer in the world after Germany?

In 2016, the UK imported approximately £ 240m worth of the stuff. In an effort to redress the balance, the NFU has relaunched its digital ice cream map for the summer of 2018. The map shows where NFU members across England and Wales are producing real British dairy ice cream. It is designed to connect the public with local dairy ice cream producers — many of whom are smallholders — and help people discover top quality British dairy products, as well as the stories behind each unique producer.
