Small­holder Fes­ti­val will cel­e­brate the best of Scot­land

THE SCOT­TISH Small­holder Fes­ti­val, which takes place on 28 Oc­to­ber at For­far Mart, is the largest event of its kind in Scot­land and it cel­e­brates the best of Scot­tish small­hold­ing, grow­ing and craft. This year’s event, which is run by small­hold­ers, will in­clude a range of in­tro­duc­tory sem­i­nars cov­er­ing sub­jects in­clud­ing typ­i­cal small­holder live­stock through to butch­ery. The fes­ti­val has also brought to­gether an eclec­tic mix of speak­ers, in­clud­ing jour­nal­ist Ruth Wat­son, founder of the #keep­S­cot­landtheBrand cam­paign, who will of­fer an up­date on the progress be­ing made to keep Scot­land’s brand at the fore­front of de­ci­sion in­flu­encers ev­ery­where; Andy Find­lay, from SAC Con­sult­ing, who will be look­ing at the so­lu­tions avail­able for small­hold­ers fac­ing the com­mon headache of what ma­chin­ery to buy; while a rep­re­sen­ta­tive from the Soil As­so­ci­a­tion Scot­land will dis­cuss weed con­trol with­out chem­i­cals.
