Keeping grass short leaves few hiding places for smaller microscopic pests, such as parasitic worm eggs, which don’t survive well when exposed to UV light rays. It also means that the area is a little more exposed and less welcoming to larger predators. Don’t denude the run, but keeping some of the grass and scrub in check will help to control pests and predators on a number of counts.
