GETTING HERE
Roadside parking in Knock (CA16 6DH) lies 10 minutes drive via country lanes from the A66, and a further 20 minutes from the M6.
WHERE TO EAT
Find shelter from the weather at The Stag Inn in Dufton (017683 51608; www.thestagdufton.co.uk), where you can treat yourself to post-walk pub classics like braised lamb shoulder or Westmorland sausage and mash (mains from £8.95). You could also pop into Dufton’s Post Box Pantry tearoom for something lighter.
