WALK HERE
Turn to Walk 13 for a 5-mile route from Cromer to Trimingham. The ECP currently continues all the way to Hopton-on-Sea.
GETTING THERE
Cromer is 20 miles north of Norwich by the A140/A149; the 44 bus runs regularly between the two every day of the week. The CH5 Coasthopper bus links the two ends of the route at Cromer and Trimingham. Find both timetables at www.sanderscoaches.com.
WHERE TO STAY
In Cromer, the boutique luxury, central location, homebaked cakes, smoked salmon breakfast (or a full English), and brilliant hosts make Ogilvy House (01263 511170, www.ogilvyhousecromer.co.uk) a place people return to again and again. Doubles from £78. In Overstrand, you can stay at the place that inspired Clement Scott to write of his Poppyland, which is now the gorgeous Mill House B&B ( 01263 576871, www.en-gb.facebook.com/pg/ MillHouseBedandBreakfast).
WHERE TO EAT
Plenty of fish and chip shops in Cromer, including No1 Cromer (01263 512316, www.no1cromer.com), where Michelin-starred owner Galton Blackiston has garnered accolades for a menu heavy with local produce. Takeaway downstairs (cod and chips £12), restaurant upstairs. In Mundesley, the The Corner House café is good for panini and sumptuous cake and if you get to Happisburgh, don’t miss Burger at the Beach ( www.facebook.com/ pg/burgersatthebeach) a merry van with outside seating, serving homemade bakes, and steak, crab, or lentil and walnut burgers.
