FIELD MAPLE

One of my favourites: never huge, but always a looker. It’s the proportions of the leaves I like: similar to sycamore, but without the brash size. Its fine timber is prized by woodturners, but otherwise it goes largely unnoticed until autumn when its leaves turn first yellow, then a deep orange.
