The quest for perfect fit

For walkers in search of the dream investment it’s not a case of location, location, location but fit, fit, fit.

-

FOR MORE THAN 90 years, since it was founded at the foot of the Alps by Hans Wagner, Hanwag has used traditional craftmanship and cuttingedge components in its quest to build the perfect boots for every walker.

Why? Because there is no such thing as a ‘normal’ foot – and unless your boots perfectly complement your feet, your relationship is destined to be rocky. Hanwag’s unique range of lasts continues to expand and includes wide, narrow, bunion and straight fit options as well as activity-specific lasts for climbing, trekking and everyday wear. Handcrafted in Europe for guaranteed quality and performance, every pair is exceptionally stable and fully resoleable so your Hanwags will be walking with you for many years to come.

FINDING THE PERFECT FIT

Boots are handcrafted on a foot-shaped model called a ‘ last’. Different brands have different lasts and offer slightly different fits. Finding the last that matches your foot shape is crucial, which is why Hanwag prides itself on its extensive range of different shaped lasts which make it easy to find a pair of boots that fit perfectly straight from the box.

STANDARD FIT

Hanwag’s fit is a legend in itself – backed by over 9 decades of experience and craftsmanship. Most of Hanwag’s trekking boots are cobbled on its standard trekking last which offers a comfortable yet high-performance fit with a snug and supportive fit around the ankle.

WIDE FIT

Retaining a secure fit around the ankle, Hanwag’s Wide Fit Last features extra space around the toebox and ball of the foot in order to remove the risk of pressure points forming at the front of the foot – a common problem for those with wider feet.

NARROW FIT

Those with narrow feet can find regular walking boots too wide, which can feel unsupportive and can lead to rubbing or blisters. The Hanwag Narrow Last has a narrower heel and toe section – offering better support and grip for narrower feet. This helps walkers step more precisely on challenging terrain.

BUNION FIT

Many of us suffer from bunions and spending all day in walking boots that are rubbing or putting pressure on the big toe joint is far from ideal! Hanwag offers an exclusive last with an extra 2mm of space around the big toe joint. The rest of the last is designed to fit snugly and securely to ensure wearers feel secure and supported while walking without painful rubbing or chafing.
