BRIDGEDALE HERITAGE
Bridgedale began making socks in Newtownards, Northern Ireland in 1915, making socks for the Soldiers in the British army for World War 1, and they’re still there today. Since then the firm has led the world with numerous firsts in the technical sock arena.
1990
Fusion Technology – Bridgedale were the first to ’twist‘ natural yarns with man-made fibres to create proprietary yarns that enhanced durability and comfort.
1993
Bridgedale launched the Trekker, now the Hike Mid Weight Merino Performance sock, which has been the best-selling Hiking sock in the UK ever since.
2000
Bridgedale wins Design Council Millennium Award for the Summit sock.
2002
Bridgedale were the first technical outdoor Brand to launch a specific women’s fit that recognised that women’s feet have a wider forefoot, a shorter arch length, and shorter toe bones.
2006
T2 launched – the first dual density, anti-shock technology.
2008
Bridgedale becomes the recommended sock of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.
