What does it do?

Similar to MMW but has a much simpler readout: it just gives you the basics and hides the extra functions until you really want them – great if you’re new to trackers. Strava isn’t purely dedicated to walking, but it has no problem classifying your activities as walks. The social community is very much based on running though, and can feel quite competitive. Premium version (Summit) offers extras themed to Training, Safety and Analysis. Most of these are way too specialised and competition-centric for walkers’ needs – but one handy extra is discounts with Strava’s partner brands, including outdoor gear.

Ease of use

If you can overlook the fact it might think you’re running not walking, the display is so clear and simple that it’s a pleasure to keep an eye on it.

INFO: Extras: Beacon location service, training plans, custom goals, track ‘relative effort’ and more. Biometrics: No (free); heart rate (premium) Desktop app: Yes, all platforms Website: www.strava.com
