BRAVE THE WEATHER
“There’s no such thing as bad weather in landscape photography. In fact, these conditions can be perfect for creating dramatic images full of atmosphere. Rain can really make colours pop; they become richer, deeper and more saturated. Misty mornings are fantastic for creating moody, ethereal images. Some cameras and lenses are weatherresistant and will stand a light shower, but it helps to protect your gear by using the lens hood and a plastic bag or rain sleeve. If you can tilt the camera down it will keep raindrops off the lens. Use a chamois to clear the lens and wipe your camera down, especially if you’re by the sea. So, the next time it rains don’t put your camera away, you might just be pleasantly surprised with your pictures.”
