“All the group walking holidays I’ve been on have been terrific. There was just one guy who was quite a loudmouth: a bit old-fashioned (i.e. slightly sexist) and liked to seem like he knew it all. But it was quite easy to keep my distance and enjoy the views, or talk to others I was more comfortable with. And after a while, we realised it was his self-defence mechanism.
