For anyone who’s planning overnight trips for the first time and wondering what sort of backpack will do the job, this has all the bells and whistles; well, the whistles at least, as there’s an emergency one attached to the sternum strap. There’s also a detachable rain cover and walking pole attachments. The soft air mesh back and straps feel comforting, if a tad warm on ascents, and there’s a zip at the base of the bag for accessing the hard-to-reach stuff. Of the many pockets, the one in the lid can easily accommodate a hydration pack. Being so tall it can push into the neck a little though, so definitely try it, fully loaded, before you buy.
